Overview

A short-form holiday video created for the Food Nutrition and Wellness (FNW) Education and Program Innovation (EPI) team as part of the team's annual tradition of producing Christmas videos. I independently developed the concept, planned the sequence, directed team members, selected music, filmed the production, and edited the final video for internal division-wide viewing.

Context

The FNW EPI team created a holiday video each year as a fun team-building tradition. I volunteered to take responsibility for developing and producing the year's video from concept through final edit.

The project involved a group of adult male and female team members and was ultimately selected by division leadership for inclusion in the division-wide holiday celebration.

Tools Used

  • Video Camera

  • Tripod

  • Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Adobe Audition

  • Itunes

  • Microsoft Word

Scope

Project type: Internal multimedia / creative communications
Audience: FNW EPI team and division-wide employees
Deliverable: One edited holiday video featuring team members
Production: Concept → planning → role assignment → direction → filming → editing → stakeholder review → final presentation

Conditions

  • Created within office during working hours

  • Participating team members had their regular job responsibilities in addition to the video

  • Required coordinating multiple people and planned interactions

  • Designed as a fun, informal internal communication piece rather than formal training

  • Final video required leadership review before division-wide presentation

My Role

Creative Director | Writer | Producer | Videographer | Video Editor

I was responsible for the project from initial concept through final delivery.

  • Developed the overall concept

  • Wrote the video concept and sequence

  • Selected two songs to structure the video

  • Planned the interactions and progression between scenes

  • Assigned roles to individual team members

  • Directed participants during filming

  • Coordinated the transition from the women's segment into the men's segment

  • Operated the camera / recorded the footage

  • Edited the video and synchronized the footage with the selected music

  • Presented the completed video to the Director and Deputy Director for review

  • Incorporated the finished product into the division's holiday celebration

Creative Approach

The video was structured around two musical segments, using the first song to introduce the women on the team before bringing the men into the second portion.

Rather than simply recording everyone together, I planned the interactions and progression of the participants so that the video had a deliberate sequence and comedic/entertaining payoff.

The goal was to create something that felt playful, cohesive, and distinctly representative of the team, while still being polished enough for a division-wide audience.

Stakeholder Review

After completing the video, I presented it to the EPI team director and division director.

They approved the video for inclusion in the division-wide holiday celebration, where it was broadcast in the division hallway for employees to view.

Outcome

The video was shared with the broader division as part of the holiday celebration and received enthusiastic feedback from employees who viewed it.

The project successfully transformed an informal team tradition into a coordinated multimedia production that could be shared with a larger internal audience.
